Drawings (2006)

Simultaneously with his paintings, Stratil has been creating drawings since 2004. Originally they were notes and quick sketches which were a relaxed contrast to the laborious painting. They contained sexual motifs and drawing automatism. In 2006 Vaclav Stratil concentrated on demanding solutions in intimate format, sometimes on the verge of miniatures. Color pencils, which we associate with our childhood drawing, come into play again. These drawings may be identified with the complex of thinking about image and humor, which Stratil uses to break the conventional interpretation of artistic values.
